Here is the report of the Korean Times newspaper about the fact that China is making white rice with plastic ingredients and selling it to foreign markets, along with how to recognize fake rice. This rice is not entirely plastic, plastic is added to the potato starch to form the rice, and eating it is like eating a plastic bag as we call it. So get used to the following checking methods!
- put a tablespoon of white rice in cold water and stir well, if the rice settles at the bottom, it can be used. It is fake rice.
- Try burning a spoonful of rice with a match. Fake rice will burn instantly. Smells like plastic.
- when ground in a steam mill, real rice crumbles and becomes white like flour. But the fake becomes something that clings to the yellow color.
- when checking the cooked rice, put a piece of rice in a closed container and it will mold after a while. Fake rice is still there.
